Chapter 202
No Answer to Give
“If you doubt it, ask your brother Jaime when you have the chance. Only do not say I told you.”
Domeric spoke as if the matter were grave. In the original tale the Imp had been accused, by other men’s plotting, of murdering his nephew King Joffrey, and condemned to die. When Jaime freed him from the cells he confessed that Tysha had been no whore. Tyrion had been eased to know she had truly loved him, and had hated Jaime for the lie. He had found his own way out of the Red Keep. In the flight he came to his father Tywin’s chamber and demanded to be told what had become of Tysha. Tywin had answered, offhand, “Where do whores go?” In his rage Tyrion killed Tywin and fled. Tywin Lannister, Lord of the West and a man of his age, died upon a privy, shot through, and so fell…
Domeric did not look for the Imp to kill Tywin for him and end the war. If Tyrion only turned against House Lannister and served him instead, that would be enough.
