Chapter 8

This chapter is from Mio’s perspective. Much of the content overlaps with Chapter 7, but it offers insight into how an average woman in this world feels when interacting with the protagonist.

I’m Mio Takano, 20 years old. A freshly graduated nurse from nursing school! That said, since completing my first year, I’ve been working 3–4 days a week as part of my training after the capping ceremony. Still, officially starting work in a white coat on April 1st feels profound. I’d already been working in the surgical ward since late March, but on March 28th, just before my shift ended, the head nurse called me in. Apparently, a senior nurse had been hospitalized with appendicitis. Now that I think about it, I hadn’t seen her since yesterday. As a rookie transitioning to a full nurse with a heavier workload, I hadn’t paid it much mind.
