Chapter 142

Edric Storm was the bastard of the late King Robert Baratheon and Delena Florent—Robert’s drunken folly on the very night of Stannis’s wedding.

Robert doted on the boy. Of his thirteen bastards, Edric was the only one he openly acknowledged, and every year he would choose gifts with care and ride to Storm’s End to visit him.

After Renly Baratheon—Lord Paramount of the Stormlands—had his throat cut by the shadow Melisandre birthed, Stannis took Edric from his fostering at Storm’s End and kept him by his side, companion to his daughter Princess Shireen.
