Chapter 246

It was another lonely, star-sparse night.

A long, earth-yellow rail train sliced through the city’s upper air like a blade—an aerial line gliding through the void. Its lights stabbed into the night’s murk, its shadow flashing by, leaving only the thunder of wheels grinding along steel and the hollow howl of wind tearing past in its wake.

This was Night City’s transit backbone. The elevated sky-rail system—built high above the streets—had a distinctly sci-fi beauty. When needed, the train could even cut through the mid-levels of skyscrapers, weaving between buildings like a cloud-dragon, never stealing an inch of ground-level real estate.
