From the darkness, answering Karl’s voice, Reed stepped out. His gaze swept through the dim corridor—first over Hansen’s corpse on the ground, then over Songbird slumped nearby, trembling as she covered her face, unaware of what had happened around her—and finally settled on Karl.

Karl’s appearance was absolutely beyond Reed’s expectations. He had never imagined Karl would show up in this chaos, and even less had he imagined that Hansen would ultimately die by KK’s hand.
