Chapter 1021

“An unconscious U.S. president… that phrase sounds so damn good. If I had to put a deadline on it, I’d love for her to never wake up—though if that’s not possible, two years works too. In this world, two years is enough time for everything to flip upside down.”

It had been four days since the mayoral inauguration and the assassination attempt on the new U.S. president, but in Night City’s streets and alleys, those were still the only two things people kept talking about.

The latter was clearly hotter. Even citizens sitting at roadside stalls, chewing on synthetic skewers, would squeeze in a few comments between bites. And whether they were long-time locals or new migrants flooding into this “City of Dreams” from everywhere, hardly anyone seemed capable of feeling any goodwill toward the new U.S. president, Rosalind Myers.
