News that Dogtown was building its first school spread quickly through every street and alley. Along with it, a notice posted on the outer wall of the construction site also made the rounds.

The notice laid out, in detail, the school’s future enrollment methods, welfare policies, and the benefits construction workers would receive. Once those rules circulated, the number of workers signing up to participate in building the school was far higher than anyone expected—so high it even caused a stir at the site.

Clearly, for the people already hired around Dogtown to build new facilities, once they had families, most of them wanted their loved ones to be able to attend this school in the future.
