That autumn, both the Free State-controlled South California and the Republic of Texas governments announced the nationalization of all Arasaka and Militech facilities within their borders. Days later, the European Economic Community followed suit, threatening to do the same if the two megacorps didn’t cease hostilities on European soil.

When an Arasaka raid struck a Militech showroom in Italy, the EEC carried out its threat and began seizing and nationalizing all Arasaka and Militech assets across Europe.
